The "successful people's" rice cart
Selling since Saigon's post-Covid revival — nameless at first, known as "alley-96 VTS broken rice". Only about a year ago did it get its name, "Cơm tấm Hùng", with a clear priced menu.

One morning, waiting at the red light at Hai Ba Trung–Vo Thi Sau, smoke rising from alley 96 and the smell of grilled ribs — one stop in, and a regular was born.
"Wake up early to succeed"
The joke that became the nickname
The cart routinely sells out before 8:00–8:30, so the viral line became its nickname: the rice spot for "successful people". Come 100 times, 60–70 times it's sold out — arrive late and you get the wave and "hết cơm gòi".
"Enough to live on, kid!"
The owner's philosophy
Asked "why not cook more and get rich quick?", he answers simply: "Enough to live on, kid!" — a small cart, a charcoal grill, plastic stools, but tidy, shipshape, served with care.
