A beer-food room open to the street
Granite tables, plastic-and-wood chairs, an open front. Big groups, many dishes, beer — the Saigon evening goat-eating style.
Story
Street below, wine room above
Dê Cao Nguyên 3 is not one dining room but two: a street-open beer-food ground floor, and a warm private room upstairs with live music. One goat table, two ways to sit.
The ground floor is a Saigon beer-food room in the true sense: granite tables, plastic-and-wood chairs, a front open straight onto Hoàng Sa street. Sitting here is sitting with the street — traffic passing, people passing, beer and goat set in the middle of the table.
Upstairs the air changes completely: a private room for about 12, a wine-rack wall, red curtains, exposed brick and checkered terracotta-and-yellow tile, a small stage with "Tony and Wine" / "Music and Wine" neon. Evenings here are group parties and live music — no longer a street eatery.
The food ties both floors together: goat fried rice served with a fried egg, grilled goat, goat blood soup, and the bowl of red peanut sauce set in the middle of the table. Goat is the reason to come; the two floors are the reason to stay.
