SUSHI WAGAO

SUSHI COUNTER · TÔN THẤT TÙNG · DISTRICT 1

Sushi Wagao serves Japanese-style dishes — the shop's own description — at a small sushi counter at 41B Tôn Thất Tùng, District 1.

The shop is one long counter: seats along the white counter top, a glass case in the middle, chefs working behind the case. Seated guests watch each dish being made — no distance between kitchen and table.

The glass case is the centre: salmon, salmon roe, scallops and fresh fish laid out on trays. On the wall, wooden shelves hold sake bottles, ceramic plates and kitchen knives — with cherry-blossom branches above the counter.

The shop opens for two services daily: lunch 11:00 AM–2:00 PM and dinner 5:00–10:00 PM. Between services the shop rests — come for a service, sit at the counter, order sashimi and a salmon ikura don.
