Story

Red letters, a noodle ceiling, since 1975

Noodle house · Bến Thành · 293–295 Lý Tự Trọng

The house tells its own story with the line “TỪ NAM VANG ĐẾN SÀI GÒN” — From Phnom Penh to Saigon — in the house’s May 6, 2026 post. That is the house’s own framing, not independently verified history, and this page presents it as exactly that.

The shop sits at 293–295 Lý Tự Trọng, Bến Thành, District 1, open to the street: bold red 3D HỒNG PHÁT channel letters on a white wood-grain and stone facade, gold “Since 1975” script, red “293” numerals, perforated white pillars, a steamed-bun display case by the door. Upstairs is a terrace with a white balustrade, potted plants and a pink-and-white flowering tree; at street level are parked motorbikes, the “Ice Cream HỒNG PHÁT” cart and patio umbrella tables.

Inside is a modern, casual dining room: round wooden tables with grey and green upholstered chairs, textured stone walls with warm sconces, framed vintage black-and-white photos, a large hand-drawn noodle mural (shrimp, pork, chopsticks, greens). Overhead is the white noodle-strand ceiling draped over woven-rattan panels — the room’s own signature. There is a condiment station of pickled chilies and jars, a digital food menu screen, a standing drinks board reading “LOCAL CRAFT BEER” and “COCKTAIL”, a service counter and an open front to the street.

The menu centres on hủ tiếu — the dry mixed prawn-and-pork bowl, the seafood bowl, soup bowls — with steamed buns in bamboo steamers, shaking-beef rice, herbal chicken feet and a kids’ noodle set. The room is busy and family-friendly: the house’s video centres on a young child eating, and its posts promote Children’s Day gifts and a kids’ noodle set. Guests are local families and international visitors.
