OKKIO — the café behind the arch

Specialty coffee · District 1 · 120-122 Lê Lợi

OKKIO needs no long telling: from the street, a backlit vertical sign and a narrow arched doorway lead up to a long, sunlit room where a communal wooden table, copper cone pendants and round mirrors set in brick arches make a quiet place to work and drink slow coffee. The sign says it plainly: specialty coffee, small batch craft roasting, open daily, since 2018 in Saigon.

The café sits at 120-122 Lê Lợi, Bến Thành ward, District 1. The storefront is a tall backlit vertical sign reading OKKIO SPECIALTY COFFEE, SMALL BATCH CRAFT ROASTING, OPEN DAILY, EST. 2018 Saigon, above the orange COFFEE TO CONNECT sign, with a single narrow arched doorway as the entrance and a yellow-orange awning overhead.

Inside, the main room is long and light: a window wall over trees and old rooftops, chevron breeze-block panels above the windows, exposed-brick arches set with round mirrors, white walls above a sage square tile wainscot, a round patterned tile floor in cream, terracotta-pink and charcoal. The long communal table on terracotta pedestals, dark Thonet-style bentwood chairs, copper cone pendants and round brass sconces. Through a wide arch is a plant-filled back seating zone, a brown leather banquette against exposed brick, and a quiet nook with a small round table, rattan fans and dried botanicals on the sill.

The bar is a long dark-wood counter with bentwood stools, a La Marzocco espresso machine, grinders and red OKKIO coffee bags on open wooden shelves against a teal tile backsplash. A white subway-tile alcove holds slow-drip cold-brew towers, and the retail corner stocks single-origin bags TRAM HANH, LAM HA, DAK LAK with Columbus 2023/2024 BEST CAFE stickers. The recorded menu lists 10 drink and food types, all unpriced — ask at the café.
