Story
Healthy food · District 1 · 42 Lý Tự Trọng
SOUMAKI calls itself “your healthy food soulmate”. The line sits on the wall itself, in curved black lettering, in the middle of the long sage-green room.
The restaurant sits at 42 Lý Tự Trọng, District 1, in a long shophouse: a glass front, a counter and kitchen visible through glass, tables running the length of the room. Sage-green walls, a vertical-tile facade, wood tables, terracotta and ghost chairs, sage dome pendants and track spotlights.
The main dish is a poke-style build-your-own bowl: a rice or soba base, beef, salmon, chicken or shrimp protein, vegetables and onsen egg, scattered with sesame, with a small black sauce dish. Dine-in comes in matte ceramic bowls on black trays; takeaway comes in kraft bowls printed “BE HEALTHY EAT YUMMY”.
Guests are young adults, solo or in small groups, several working on laptops; Grab drivers also pick up takeaway orders. The room is calm, clean and aesthetic — a light healthy lunch in the middle of District 1.
